Ali vinse l grazie ad una tattica che nessuno avrebbe mai pensato che attuasse; persino i suoi allenatori erano increduli e non si capacitavano. Il Campione si incoll alle corde per 8 riprese, facendo sfogare tutta la potenza di cui disponeva Foreman contro un bersaglio inaspettatamente “elastico” costituito dal corpo di Ali e le corde del ring; pur venendo colpito da pugni micidiali l elastica delle corde attenuava la potenza dei colpi di Foreman.
