Senator Mark Kirk, Illinois mayors oppose Asian carp proposal
January 12, 2014 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — Illinois Senator Mark Kirk and several Illinois mayors are opposing a proposal to fight the spread of Asian carp.
The lawmakers met today to respond to a new report from the u-s army corps of engineers.
It offers eight plans for preventing carp from entering the great lakes.
The most controversial would involve putting physical barriers between Lake Michigan and the waterways that feed into it.
