Rigell Supports Bill to Protect Home and Business Owners From Skyrocketing Flood Insurance Premiums
WASHINGTON, March 5 — Rep. Scott Rigell, R-Va. (2nd CD), issued the following news release:
Yesterday Congressman Scott Rigell (VA-02) voted for H.R. 3370, the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014, which passed the House by 306-91. The legislation is a bipartisan measure that protects home and business owners from unreasonable premium increases and helps restore vitality to America’s housing market. Rigell was a cosponsor of the legislation, which now goes to the Senate for consideration.
“I’ve heard from numerous families and small business owners in the second district who are suffering from dramatic increases in mandatory flood insurance premiums as a result of decisions made by FEMA,” said Rigell. “These important reforms will not only protect hardworking Americans and small business owners from skyrocketing costs, they will also provide certainty to those seeking to expand business operations and create new jobs.”
