Republican Vasquez out of CD3 race
Underdog Republican candidate Jaime Vasquez said he won’t run for Congress in District 3 this year.
Vasquez said he needs to devote his attention to running his small business, but he left open the possibility of running in 2016.
In 2012, Vasquez ran a low-budget campaign and received 29 percent of the vote in the Republican primary election, losing to Gabriela Saucedo Mercer.
Saucedo Mercer faces Miguel Olivas in this year’s primary election in August. The winner will challenge incumbent Democrat Raúl Grijalva in November.
