NH Veterans Join Ayotte as She Discusses Successful Efforts to Restore Military Retirement Benefits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is in Afghanistan to receive briefings from U.S. military leaders, State Department officials, Afghan leaders, and U.S. service members. The visit is part of a bipartisan congressional delegation mission she is leading this week that also includes stops in Ukraine and Israel. On Friday, in Afghanistan, she visited U.S. soldiers in Regional Command East – including two soldiers from New Hampshire – and thanked them for their brave service and for protecting our country. She also received briefings on the security situation in Regional Command East and the progress of Afghan national security forces. The delegation also participated in a working dinner with General Joseph Dunford, the Commander of all U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, and the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, James Cunningham.Ayotte plans to gather information to determine how the U.S. can best protect its troops and its important national security interests in Afghanistan during the security transition in the coming months.
