Gail Boliver: Seeking moderation, common sense
OSAGE | Gale Boliver said he has long experience in negotiation – and in his mind, that is a prime quality to have in Congress these days.
The Marshalltown attorney is also hoping the First Congressional District electorate is going to favor his more traditional Republican views.
“I am a fiscal conservative but a social moderate. I do believe government should stay out of business – and it should stay out of people’s personal lives, out of people’s bedrooms,” he said during a swing through North Iowa last week.
Boliver, 64, is a securities litigator who feels he knows the fine art of compromise – a sorely-needed ability in Congress, he said. He is vying with three others for the seat held by Rep. Bruce Braley of Waterloo, who is running for the U.S. Senate this year.
